Aspire holds the record of your pre-med years — your grades, your hours, and your written reflections on what you saw. This page says plainly what we store, who else touches it, and how to get rid of it.

What we collect

Only what you give us. There is no tracking pixel, no advertising network, and nothing bought from a data broker.

Your account

Your email address, and your name if your sign-in provider supplies one. You can sign in with an email and password, with Google, or with Apple. We never see your password: it is held by Firebase Authentication, and for Google and Apple sign-in we only receive the confirmation that you signed in successfully. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever hold the relay address.

What you record

• Academic figures — GPA, MCAT section scores and total, test dates, graduation year, and the answers to the questions asked when you first open the app.
• Experiences and hours — activity names, their category, and every hour entry with its date.
• Journal entries — the free-text reflections you attach to an experience.
• Deadlines, checklists and notes — anything you add to the Opportunity Compass.
• MedMentor AI conversations — your questions and the replies, kept so the history is there when you return.
• Settings — your hour targets and app preferences.

Collected automatically

Crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics, and basic usage events — screens opened, features used — through Firebase Analytics and PostHog. These tell us what breaks and what gets used. They do not include your journal entries, your scores, or your conversations.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches three companies, each for a stated reason.

Google, as our infrastructure

Aspire runs on Firebase. Google stores your account and everything you record, on servers in the United States. They process it on our instructions as our service provider, not for purposes of their own.

OpenAI, when you use MedMentor AI

Read this one carefully. Each time you ask MedMentor a question, we assemble a summary of your profile and send it to OpenAI to generate the answer. That summary includes your GPA, your MCAT scores, your activities and hours, and your journal entries.

If you write about a patient you observed, those words can be part of what is sent. Write your journal accordingly: describe what you learned rather than details that could identify a particular person. If you would rather none of it ever left our systems, simply do not use MedMentor — the rest of the app works without it, and nothing is sent to OpenAI unless you ask a question.

OpenAI processes this through their API as our service provider. Under their API terms, content sent this way is not used to train their models.

And when the law requires it

We will disclose data if legally compelled, or to protect someone's safety. If Aspiralytics is ever sold or merged, your data would transfer with the business, and this policy would continue to apply until you are told otherwise.

What stays on your device

Aspire works offline. Your data is cached locally so the app is usable without a connection, and syncs when you are back online. Reminders you set are scheduled by your device itself — we are not told when they fire. Deleting the app clears the local copy, but not what is stored on our servers; for that, see below.

Deleting your data

In the app: Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account. This erases your questionnaire answers, experiences, hour entries, journal entries, deadlines, notes, preferences, and MedMentor conversations, and then deletes the account itself.

It is immediate and it cannot be undone — there is no grace period and no way for us to restore it afterwards. Backups are overwritten within 30 days. Anonymised crash and usage records, which are not linked to your account, may remain.

If you would rather we did it for you, or you have lost access to your account, write to admin@aspiredoctor.com from the address you signed up with and we will confirm once it is done.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may also object to or restrict how we process it, and complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, you may request the specific pieces we hold, and we will not treat you differently for asking. We have never sold personal information and have no plans to.

Age

Aspire is built for students applying to medical school and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data; if we learn we have, we delete it. If you are the parent of a child who has signed up, write to us and we will remove the account.

Security, honestly stated

Traffic is encrypted in transit and at rest. Firestore rules restrict every record to the account that created it. That said, no service can promise perfection, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will tell you and the relevant regulator as quickly as the law requires.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and, for anything significant, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
